About
Hi there, I'm Tram. My wife, Hannah, and I moved to Haiti in 2019 and have been living here ever since. We first travelled to Haiti together in 2016, which is where we first realized the opportunity we had to improve lives by collaborating with the outpatient clinic Lespwa Timoun (“Hope for Children” in Haitian Creole).
We fell in love with the clinic and with Haiti and made the move after Hannah was appointed executive director of Light from Light-- a nonprofit organization that supports the clinic. The clinic is incorporated in Haiti with a Haitian board of directors and a 53 person staff. It focuses on three primary areas: Malnutrition, women and children and healthcare for the most marginalized. In calendar year 2020, the clinic had 13,900 patient visits and cared for an additional 858 moderate and severely malnourished individual children through their nutrition program.
We're both graduates of the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!) and both originally from Atlanta, Georgia. I graduated from medical school and residency at Emory University and my wife is working on her MBA through the University of Indiana. We recognize the experiences we live and the stories we share are only a small piece of life in Haiti. I encourage you to listen to Overseas and continue seeking more information to learn more about Haiti, its history and its wonderful people. I hope you enjoy and learn. Thank you for listening!
